Interview with Cristina Vaqué, vice-rector for Academic Affairs at the UVic-UCC

  • Cristina Vaqué Crusellas holds a PhD in Food Psychology and has focused much of her research and academic activity on the fields of community nutrition and promoting health. Her vice-rectorate coordinated, agreed on and approved the educational model adapted to the context of 100% online courses in the past academic year due to the pandemic, as well as the hybrid model being used this academic year in everything from the pedagogical perspective to what is possible thanks to technical and administrative factors
  • The Vice-Rectorate of Academic Affairs determines the specific framework of the hybrid model internally with the faculties and externally with the Directorate General for Universities (DGU) and the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU). It also conveys clear information to students and professors so they can apply it and explain it clearly as well

Federative contract with Elisava

Elisava, the Barcelona School of Design and Engineering, is becoming the Faculty of Design at the UVic-UCC

This November, the Balmes University Foundation, the entity that runs the UVic-UCC, and the Elisava University School Private Foundation have signed a federative agreement by which Elisava will become a fully-fledged affiliate centre of the university. The UVic-UCC views this agreement as a factor in the growth and qualitative enrichment of its university project

The CEEAF, or how to innovate by undertaking applied and creative research in the field of sport

  • In five years, the Physical Activity and Sports Studies Centre has carried out 28 projects, 10 of which are ongoing, has obtained 150,000 Euros and published 41 articles in indexed journals
  • The Centre has a distinctive research profile, with young researchers and involvement by many areas from UVic-UCC and elsewhere, and above all in the international sphere

Getting ready for the MIR

Getting ready for the MIR starting from your first year as a medical student

  • Dovetailing with the start of this academic year, the Faculty of Medicine at the UVic-UCC has launched a MIR (Resident Medical Intern) Exam Preparation Programme for all students in its Bachelor’s in Medicine
  • “We want students to connect with the exam early and deeply enough so they gradually adapt to the examination technique”, says Josep Arimany, President of the Foundation of Advanced Studies in Health Sciences (FESS) and one of the driving forces behind the programme

The Theatre Classroom: UVic's space for learning about and experiencing drama

  • This broad-based University project involves students, alumni and members of the teaching staff and the administration and services staff
  • It has always had an experimental calling that has made it open to artistic research
  • It has staged one production every year since its inception in the 1993-94 academic year, and there have now been 27 of them
