Albert Estiarte Duocastella is a doctor for the Spanish water polo teams, with whom he has been an Olympian eight times. He is deputy director of the Althaia Foundation and recipient of the Medal of Sporting Merit from Manresa City Council. Since December 2022, he has been deputy director of the Chair of Leadership in Values at the University of Vic - Universitat Central de Catalunya (UVic-UCC), based at the Manresa Campus.

  • The UVic-UCC and the Catalan Government have signed a new programme agreement. With annual funding of 13,050,000 euros, the agreement establishes the framework for the relationship between both institutions over the next four years
  • The new programme agreement means that almost 25% of the university’s budget will be contributed by the government. It replaces a previous agreement, from 2015, which was initially set at 7,300,000 euros, although this figure had been increasing in recent years
  • The agreement provides UVic-UCC with long-term financial stability. It allows important decisions to be made for the near future of the institution, and strengthens and tightens ties with the Catalan Government
  • In 2019, UVic-UCC approved a manifesto promoted by the university community in which it expressed concern about global warming and adhered to the Climate Emergency Declaration
  • In 2006, UVic had already laid the foundations of what is today the Ecocampus, and UMedicina, UManresa and Elisava are all aligned with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the 2030 Agenda
  • The global UI Greenmetric ranking placed the UVic-UCC as the fourth most environmentally friendly Catalan university in 2021
  • The newsroom, the Carles Capdevila radio studio and the TV set are three spaces that allow UVic communication degree students to learn by simulating that they are in a real context
  • Taking it a step further, UVic Ràdio and Insights are educational and professional projects simultaneously
  • In the last two years, the UManresa Postgraduate School of Business has promoted joint work with companies to design tailor-made programmes that respond to their training needs
  • Companies that have opted for tailor-made training particularly value the use of simulation and personalized attention
  • UManresa will continue to promote this training line, which has so far reached companies from several sectors and has offered programmes aimed at various professional profiles
  • The design critic Alice Rawsthorn opened this year’s edition, which will continue on December 13 with Yazmany Arboleda, designer of installations for social and political criticism

Enric Clos Sansalvador graduated in Physiotherapy from the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC), in the class of 2010. He holds a PhD in Medicine and Translational Research, and completed a master’s degree in Sports Physiotherapy and Readaptation to Physical Activity and a master’s degree in Translational Research in Physiotherapy, both at the GImbernat University Schools. he started working as a physiotherapist in the Vic OAR football team and is currently one of the five sports physiotherapists in Girona’s first team. We talk to him to find out what it was like to be an undergraduate student at UVic and to hear about his experience as a sports physiotherapist
